WATERTOWN, NY – The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence, (www.thearcjslc.org), a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, has been awarded $72, 500 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence’s guardianship and recreation programs.
NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities while enabling individuals to maintain eligibility for public benefits programs, such as Medicaid and SSI. For 2019, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,933,000 in grants to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.
This year, The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence received $57,500 to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. Supported by Chapter staff and community volunteers, The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence’s Guardianship Program currently provides guardianship supports and services to 2,000 people.
NYSARC Trust Services also awarded The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence $15,000 to support new recreational opportunities and enrich the lives of the more than 2,000 individuals it serves. The Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence plans to use the recreation grant funds to sports and movie tickets, concerts, park permits, day trips, art supplies, picnic events, bowling tickets, and sports equipment.
