BLACK RIVER, NY — Thomas R. Greenwood, 66, Black River, passed away Thursday, June 20, at the Samaritan Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Mackey from the Grace Wesleyan Church officiating. Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Tom was born in Lowville on Oct. 27, 1952, a son to Robert and Mary Waite Greenwood. He graduated from Copenhagen Central School. Tom worked at Climax Manufacturing in Lowville as a millwright and truck driver for many years.
A highly respected employee with co-workers and management, Tom retired in October 2015.
He married Katherine Thomas on Dec. 24, 1983.
Tom enjoyed playing his guitars and the Banjo. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his John Deere tractors.
Tom is survived by his wife Katherine; 2 daughters Shanda (Jose) Torres and Jenna Greenwood (Anthony Perusquia); grandchildren Maverick and Zoie Torres, all of Calcium; 4 sisters Kristine (Gerald) Koepsell, Watertown, Ellen Apicerno, CT, Suzanne Greenwood, Alaska, Julie (Cliff) Smith, Carthage; her brother Daniel (Tara) Greenwood, NH; many nieces and nephews.
Tom was predeceased by a brother, Carl Greenwood, and a sister, Cheryl Ann Bergquist.
