Traffic Alert: Court Street

WATERTOWN, NY —  As part of the construction work for the City’s ongoing Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Streetscape Project, a segment of Court Street between the two entrances to Marshall Place will be closed to thru traffic on Friday, October 28, 2022. The City anticipates being able to reopen this street segment by Friday evening.

Court Street between Public Square and Marshall Place will remain open for access to businesses and the public parking lot will remain open and available for use. Local traffic on Court Street will be directed to use Marshall Place as a detour. Anyone wishing to access any of the offices at 210 Court Street may still use the Marshall Place parking lot, which provides immediate access to the building.

The City encourages nonlocal traffic to seek alternate routes, such as Black River Parkway or Arsenal Street, as a bypass around the construction zone.

The City’s contractor will follow standard protocol to establish traffic control by installing temporary barricades, signage, and having on-site flagmen throughout the duration of the project.

Once complete, this project will improve pedestrian safety and comfort along Court Street and other project areas within downtown Watertown. The City of Watertown thanks you for your patience and understanding during the construction process.

The City will make every effort to keep affected project areas open during construction. However, as the project progresses, short segments of roadway and sidewalk will continue to be subject to temporary closure as project needs may warrant.
