WATERTOWN,NY — A state of emergency has been declared for Jefferson County, as per William Johnson, Chairman of the Jefferson County Board of Legislators, and the Jefferson County Office of Fire & Emergency Management.
Effective 7am this morning, December 24th, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has declared a TRAVEL BAN due to blizzard conditions, impassable roads, and limited visibility. This travel ban will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
This means limited travel ONLY, that is essential for the protection and preservation of life and/or property, including:
Medical personnel, Fire personnel, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Services personnel
Government officers and personnel rendering services connected with this emergency, such as Highway Department personnel
Any vehicle or person on their way to and from performing an immediately essential act associated with the preservation of life and/or property.
