Troopers observe ‘drunk’ driver strike a dog, flee the scene

PIERRPONT —  On September 11, 2020, at approximately 7:48 p.m., State Police, while patrolling on Howardville Road in the town of Pierrepont, observed a vehicle strike a dog, then leave the scene.

A traffic stop was conducted and the operator, identified as 57-year-old Frank J. Murdock Jr., of Canton, was subsequently arrested for DWI. He was also found in possession of a quantity of marijuana, troopers said.

His blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.10 percent, troopers said.

Murdock was issued tickets returnable in Pierrepont Town Court and released.
