Wanetta A. Lautenschlager, 80, formerly of Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY – Wanetta Alice Lautenschlager, 80, passed away at her home in Layton, UT on February 7, 2018, with her loving husband at her side.

She was born Feb. 16, 1937, in Carthage, NY, the daughter of George and Lila Rose Christman.

She married Gerald Leslie Lautenschlager in Carthage, NY, on Aug. 4, 1956, and to this union they were blessed with four children. They have enjoyed 61 years together.

She grew up in Carthage, NY where she received her elementary education and graduated from Carthage High School. Following her marriage to Gerald, she followed him in his Military Service all over the world. Their stay in Germany and Hawaii were her favorite locations they were assigned.

Wanetta was a Christian and attended The Christian Life Center in Layton, UT. She worked for 15 years at North Davis Junior High School in the School Lunch Program.

She loved to collect salt and pepper shakers and has 500 pair from all over the world. She was an avid cross word puzzler and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her Husband Gerald Leslie Lautenschlager; children: Rebecca Jones, Gerald Lautenschlager, Jr., Stephen Lautenschlager, Jeffrey Lautenschlager; 10 grandchildren; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Pete.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Gerald, Stanley, George, Marion, Melba and Lila.

The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially Brandy and Karen for their care given to Wanetta.

Calling hours will be held 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Calvary Assembly of God, Martin Street Rd., Carthage. A memorial service will immediately follow in the church at 3:00 PM. There will then be a committal service in Sunnyside Cemetery, Zecher Rd., Naumburg.
