Watertown Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony Dec. 2 will feature new route

WATERTOWN, NY —  The City of Watertown will hold its annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting on Friday, December 2, 2022, beginning at 6:00pm.

The holiday festivities will begin with Mayor Smith and members of the City
Council officially kicking off the holiday season with a countdown to light the City’s
Christmas tree in front of City Hall.

Directly following the Tree Lighting, the annual Christmas Parade will travel a
new route this year. The parade route will be along Washington Street from
Winslow Street to Stone Street. Viewers will be able to enjoy the parade from both
sides of Washington Street along the route.

This year’s parade theme is “Christmas is Garland City”. All floats must be
decorated for the holiday season as well as lit with holiday lights. No cars, trucks, vans, utility vehicles, wreckers, dump trucks etc. are permitted without holiday decorations, or an attached decorated float.

Candy will not be permitted to be thrown during the event for the safety of
viewers.
