Watertown High School announces Class of 2019 leaders

WATERTOWN, NY —   Watertown High School has announced the Class of 2019 leaders.

The valedictorian of the Watertown High School Class of 2019 is Joshua Rainbolt, son of Raymond and Marie Rainbolt.

Throughout his high school experience, Joshua excelled at AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP English, AP US History and AP Physics.

He was captain of the Varsity Cross Country team and is also a member of the Track and Field, and the Swimming and Diving teams. He received Frontier League All Star awards in Swimming and Cross Country.

Joshua is the Treasurer of the Diversity Club and a member of the National Honor Society, Political Science Club, Environmental Club and Whiz Quiz Team. He was a representative for the Rotary Club and a WWNY 7 News Academic All-Star.
Joshua plays third trombone in the WHS Wind Ensemble and has participated in
Bi County and Area All State bands.

He has been gifted the Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Citizenship Award, EJ Herrmann Scholarship, and the Jefferson Leadership Institute Scholarship as well as other academic awards.

Additionally, Joshua works during the summers as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA.

This fall Joshua will enter the University of Rochester where he plans to major in Biotechnology with a focus on Biomimicry. Joshua’s overall grade point average is 97.84.

The salutatorian of the Watertown High School Class of 2019 is Olivia Ruth
Askins, daughter of Kimberly and Karl Askins.

Olivia has excelled in AP Calculus, AP World History, AP Chemistry, Enriched English, and Spanish 5.

She is the recipient of numerous academic awards, the Augsbury North Country
Scholarship and the Gold Key Award for Ceramics. Olivia has been the Treasurer
of the Class of 2019 for 5 years, Treasurer of the National Honor Society,
Secretary of the Diversity Club, and part of the Booster Club. Olivia plays first
chair flute in the WHS Wind Ensemble.

She was part of Values of Volunteering at the SPCA, Urban Mission and Zoo, has volunteered as a soccer coach and a VBS leader at her church, and is part of the soccer and lacrosse team. Olivia is also a WHS representative to the Rotary Club and has held several jobs, currently serving at Garland City.

This fall Olivia will enter St. Lawrence University where she plans to major in Biology on the pre-med track. Olivia’s overall grade point average is 97.56.
