Watertown High School announces Class of 2020 leaders

WATERTOWN, NY —  Watertown High School has announced the Class of 2020 leaders.

The valedictorian is Andrew Victoria, son of Mario and Michele Victoria. Throughout high school, Andrew has excelled at AP Calculus, AP Biology and AP U.S. History. He is a National Hispanic Merit Scholar and WWNY 7-New Academy All-Star. He is the vice president of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society and a member of the Audio-Visual Club and Whiz Quiz Team. Andrew is a 3-year state qualifier in swimming and was named a WWNY 7-News Athlete of the Week in baseball. He is a regular volunteer at Samaritan Medical Center as well as a WHS representative to the Noontime Rotary Club. Additionally, Andrew works during the summers as a nurses’ aide at Pediatric Associates of Watertown.

This fall, Andrew will enter the University of Pittsburgh where he plans to major in neuroscience on the pre-med track. Andrew’s overall grade point average is 98.21.

 

The salutatorian is Tuyen Huynh, son of Tien Huynh and Nhan Cao. Throughout high school, Tuyen has excelled in multiple college level courses, including AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, English 101, English 102, Spanish 4, Spanish 5 and Physics.

Tuyen is the president of the Diversity Club, a member of the National Honor Society, Audio-Visual Club, a WHS representative to the Rotary Club, and he is a Whiz Quiz competitor. Tuyen is also a member of the varsity lacrosse team and spend a majority of his time in the weight room. Tuyen has been a volunteer at St. Patrick’s Church since the fourth grade. He was an altar server for seven years and is now a church school teacher for K-2 students. At Watertown High, Tuyen is known for establishing an after school chemistry lab. Tuyen has earned many academic awards including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal, the College Board Opportunity Scholarship and the Seal of Biliteracy.

The fall, Tuyen will enter Yale University where he will double major in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and Film & Media Studies. Tuyen’s overall grade point average is 97.98.
