DEXTER, NY – The National Weather Service, which maintains the weather station at the Watertown International Airport in Dexter, NY, has been making repairs to their ASOS weather reporting system. This system went out of service on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, at approximately 5:00 pm. It is expected to be back on line ;ate Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, once the necessary repairs have been completed.
The weather reporting system outage has led to 5 scheduled flight cancellations between Watertown and Philadelphia since Monday at 5 p.m. through Thursday at 6:00 a.m.
As an interim measure, the airline is working diligently with volunteers from the Fort Drum Weather Squadron to perform manual weather observations which report the conditions at the airport.
Passengers are being advised to check their flight status with their airline or charter company.
