Watertown man facing arson charge after domestic incident

WATERTOWN, NYMichael E. Griffin, 35, of 636 Bronson St., Apt. 4, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 2:18 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at his residence with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, and fifth-degree arson, a misdemeanor.

Mr. Griffin is accused of violating a City Court refrain-from order of protection by burning notebook belonging to the protected party, Secret M. Goforth, 26, during a domestic incident at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday at their apartment, according to court documents. Police allege he used a stove top burner to set the notebook on fire.

He was being held pending arraignment Tuesday morning in City Court.
