Watertown man accused of assaulting two Samaritan Medical Center ER employees

WATERTOWN, NY —  Charles W. Howard Jr., 52, of 232 W. Main St., Apt. 31A, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 9:17 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in the 100 block of Mill Street with two felony counts of second-degree assault. He was also cited with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Mr. Howard is accused of striking a 56-year-old female employee in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center twice in her head with a chair causing a concussion at about 5 p.m. Aug. 5, according to court documents.

He also allegedly put his fingers in the eye of a 34-year-old male SMC employees causing scratches to the exterior area of the victim’s eyes as well as a possible scratch to the cornea during the same incident, police said.

He was being held pending arraignment Tuesday morning in City Court.
