Watertown man accused of choking woman

WATERTOWN, NY — Bryan L. Blackmon, 49, of 736 W. Main St., Apt. 6, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at 519 Emerson St. with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, second-degree harassment, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is accused of violating the terms of a City Court refrain-from order of protection when placed his hands around the neck of Leslie Jo Damon, 39, and squeezed at about 3:12 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at 519 Emerson St., Apt. 2, police said. He also allegedly struck her in the face with his fist, according to court documents. Police said a concentrated cannabis substance was located in a glove in his sweatshirt.

He was held for arraignment Wednesday morning in City Court.
