Watertown man accused of forcibly cutting woman’s hair, stealing cell phone during domestic incident

WATERTOWN, NY —  Mackey J. West, 53, of 636 Boyd St., Apt. 2R, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 3:19 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at his residence with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor and second-degree harassment.

Mr. West is accused of stealing a cell phone belonging to Gretchen Marston, 44, when he grabbed it from her hand while she was attempting to call 911 and left a residence during a domestic incident at about 12:50 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at 636 Boyd St., police said.

He is also accused of forcibly cutting chunks of her hair with a pair of scissors during the same incident, according to court documents.

He was being held pending arraignment Dec. 27 in City Court.
