Watertown man accused of striking EMT

WATERTOWN, NY —  Austin S. Collins, 21, of 151 Bowers Ave., upper apt., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, March 29, at Samaritan Medical Center, 830 Washington St., with second-degree harassment and resisting arrest.

Mr. Collins is accused of swinging at and striking an EMT first responder in his face with an open palm while the 37-year-old EMT was attempting to provide treatment to the defendant at about 9:36 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at 32 Maywood Terrace, according to court documents.

He is also accused of pulling his hands away from officers while they were attempting to handcuff him at about 9:36 p.m. Saturday, police said.

He is summoned to appear June 30 in City Court.
