Watertown man accused of swinging machete during domestic incident

WATERTOWN, NY — Matthew J. Bartholomew, 33, of 116 N. Indiana Ave., rear apt., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 3:57 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at his residence with fourth-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

He is accused of swinging a machete during a domestic incident with the intent to use it against a 13-year-old girl while screaming, made a cutting motion toward his neck and punched a hole in the wall of the apartment early Sunday, according to court documents.

He was being held pending arraignment Sunday morning in City Court.
