Watertown man arrested on drug charge after raid by police

WATERTOWN, NY — A man was arrested when members of the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force executed a drug-related search warrant Friday afternoon at an apartment on Olive Street.

Rudolph J. Gibbs, 24, of 657 Olive St., Apt. 5, was allegedly found in possession of 24 glassine envelopes of heroin. “The amount and manner in which the heroin was possessed was with intent to sell,” according to court documents.

Police said the envelopes of heroin were located in a sock in his bedroom at about 2:52 p.m. Friday during the search.

He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Mr. Gibbs was arraigned at about 4:15 p.m. Friday before City Judge Anthony M. Neddo. He was sent to the Jefferson County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash. He is scheduled to appear Monday morning in City Court for a hearing.
