Watertown man pepper sprayed after resisting arrest, police say

WATERTOWN, NY —  Jared Malik Thomas, 24, of 323 S. Massey St., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 419 E. Main St. with fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Mr. Thomas is accused of damaging a door frame when he repeatedly kicked it at about 10:32 p.m. Dec. 30 at 419 E. Main St., according to court documents.

“The defendant did knowingly and intentionally attempt to prevent his authorized arrest when he repeatedly pulled his hands away from handcuffing while stating that he wasn’t going to jail despite multiple verbal commands to comply, resulting in an officer having to use personal strikes and OC spray to gain compliance,” police wrote.

Mr. Thomas is ordered to appear March 29 in City Court.
