Extend hours at Watertown Post Office

WATERTOWN, NY – Oh, the places you’ll go!  That now can include the Watertown Post Office with extra hours for these two weekends before the Christmas holiday.

Postal officials say full postal retail services and package pickup will be available at the Post Office, located at 232 Commerce Park Drive, on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm.  No passports will be processed during the extra Sunday hours on December 15 or 22.

Not to be confused with Whoville, extended hours at the Watertown Post Office on Sunday, December 22, will include refreshments and a family-friendly visit by a big, green fictional character whose heart may be two sizes too small.  Young postal customers are invited to help the special guest learn more about the true meaning of Christmas between the hours of 10:30am and 1 pm Sunday.

Can’t make it to the Post Office among the many errands of the season? In addition to local Post Offices, stamps are sold at face value for the Postal Service at many larger retailers such as Kinney Drugs, Byrne Dairy, Staples, Walgreens, Staples and Wal-Mart.

A full-service self-service kiosk is available 24 hours daily in the Watertown postal lobby, providing holiday stamps, shipping labels, ZIP Code look-up and some additional services.

For mailing holiday greetings and gifts, Postal officials recommend the following deadlines for expected delivery by Dec. 25 to domestic addresses:

  • Dec. 20 — First-Class Mail service such as greeting cards

  • Dec. 20 — First-class packages, up to 15.99 ounces

  • Dec. 21 — Priority Mail service

  • Dec. 23 — Priority Mail Express* service

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
