WATERTOWN, NY — On Friday, April 26, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., the City’s 22nd Annual Arbor Day Ceremony will be held at Lansingdorf Park, located on the City’s north side at the intersection of Lansing Street and Katherine Street.
A Norway spruce tree will be planted at the site to commemorate the centennial of the development of the Lansingdorf Park neighborhood and to honor the late Daniel A. Buduson who grew up in the neighborhood.
2019 marks the 22nd straight year that Tree Watertown has observed Arbor Day in the City. Watertown’s Mayor, Joseph M. Butler Jr., will lead the tree planting and April 26, 2019 will be proclaimed as Arbor Day in the City of Watertown.
Arbor Day will compliment a week long tree planting effort in the City. The Watertown Noon Rotary Club, in partnership with the City and Tree Watertown, will be conducting their annual tree planting program at Thompson Park, in the area known as “Pinnacle Wood”, located just north of the water tower on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Approximately 45 trees will added to the landscape and 20 – 30 existing trees will be mulched as part of the volunteer service project.
The City Department of Public Works is also working to complete the planting of 90 trees this week at various locations throughout the City.
