Watertown woman had 0.23% BAC, three children in vehicle, police say

WATERTOWN, NY —  A Watertown woman was charged Sunday evening with driving while intoxicated with three children as passengers.

Jessica M. Beutel, 31, of 148 Duffy St., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 8:13 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Arsenal Street with felony aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, felony DWI, unsafe lane change, imprudent speed and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said her blood alcohol content was 0.23 percent. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI, which carries harsher penalties upon conviction, is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or greater.

She was previously convicted of DWI on Feb. 17, 2016, according to court documents.

Police listed the ages of the children in the vehicle as 8, 8 and 7.

She is summoned to appear Oct. 3 in City Court.
