WPD: 30-year-old Watertown man accused of making bomb threats

WATERTOWN, NY — The Watertown Police Department released the following statement on Thursday, July 8, 2021:

“This morning, uniformed patrol officers and detectives arrested 30-year-old Michael J. Tweedy at his 1030 Arsenal St. residence in our city.

He was brought to our station where he was charged with two counts of NYS Penal Law 490.20 sub 1 Making a Terroristic Threat, a Class D felony. He is being held here until his arraignment.

Mr. Tweedy was arrested for the above after our investigation showed he was responsible for calling in separate bomb threats on 06/25/2021 at two different locations: Planet Fitness, 1222 Arsenal St., and Skyline Apartments, 454 Mill St., in our city. On that date, several persons were evacuated from both locations for an extended period of time while Fort Drum K-9 bomb detection dogs searched the buildings.”
