WPD: Man charged with kidnapping another, menacing with hatchet

WATERTOWN, NY —  On 08/02/2023 at 11:04 am, members of our uniformed patrol division were dispatched to the 1400 block of Holcomb St for a kidnapping complaint.

It was alleged that Dustin King menaced another male with a hatchet and forced the victim to drive him around under threat of serious physical injury.

The suspect vehicle was located at Cold Creek apartments at 24098 NYS RT 12 in the town of Watertown, NY. The victim was transported from the scene. There were no injuries sustained.

Dustin Robert King, a 38-year-old male with no current address, was charged with Menacing in the second degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a Class D Felony, and Kidnapping in the second degree, a Class B Felony.

He was arraigned in Jefferson County CAP Court where he was remanded into the custody of the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

We were assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, Dexter Police Department, the New York State Police, the Metro Jefferson Drug Task Force, and the Jefferson County 911 Center in this investigation.
